P90X2 Day 6: Balance and Power – Balance This!

This was a tough workout. There were some really awkward movements in it for me. As always, moves that require me to fold all the way over gave me problems because of my belly. Lolsanas can lolsuck my balls!

I didn’t push it too hard today. Because so many of these moves were new, I focused more on learning the move than pushing the weight and reps. I’ll judge how I feel over the next couple of days to make sure I didn’t hurt myself. Assuming all feels well, I feel confident that I’ll be able to really get after it.

Not to say I wasn’t breathing hard! This was still a tough workout, but I could have pushed for more.

Difficult moves:

  • Russian Twist¬† – Couldn’t really get my bottom half to twist! Guess that comes with more core power.
  • Renegade Row 1/2 Lolsana – Suck it! (see above)
  • Split Lunge – Very frustrating as I try to keep my foot from rolling off the side of the ball. A lot like my first attempts at yoga.
  • Lateral Plyo Pushup – I see myself breaking a wrist soon. Stay still, ball!
  • Dumbbell Super Burpee – That’s just rough! Major heart rate increase.

P90X Day 7: Rest – On a Roller

Today was rest. It was a good day to rest as there’s been a lot on my mind. I plopped down in front of the TV for a while and watched some Firefly while I laid on the foam roller. Sure enough, after finding a hot spot to lay on and then getting distracted by the TV, the spot would begin to hurt less to lay on. Let’s hope this really helps in the long run.

Day 5: X2 Yoga – Shorter Than the First!

It’s good to see that Yoga is shorter this time around. An hour and a half during the P90X routine was not insanely popular. It was the biggest complaint of anybody I talked to who gave P90X a shot. Now we’re down to 66 minutes.¬† That’s about par with all of the other DVDs in P90X2. No complaints here!

It’s been a looong time since I’ve attempted any sort of Yoga. When I did, I was doing routines from the One on One series like Patience Hummingbird Yoga which were considerably easier. It’s refreshing to find out that I haven’t lost of whole lot of flexibility in my hamstrings, but a lot of my moves are limited by my FAT!

Seriously, when I go to fold all the way over, the fat bunches up in my stomach and prevents me from going further. When I try to reach around for a Bound Warrior, it’s my circumference that’s preventing the hand lock. Damn! Gotta shed this blub!

Overall, not a bad workout. Feels like my butt is going to be sore. Seems the be a theme here.

P90X2 Day 4: X2 Total Body – Brett is a Pansy

Woke up with a headache today. Thought it had gone away just before I went to bed last night, but I woke up during the night and it was back. Popped some Excedrin Extra Strength and laid down a bit longer. I had planned on doing X2 Total Body before work. Wasn’t going to happen. I was, however able to knock out Ab Ripper X2.

I say “knock it out”. In actuality, it’s more like “struggle and complain through”. I felt a lot like this guy… Continue reading
