Today I did Kenpo Cardio X as my standard replacement for Kenpo X. It’s more intense. I can actually break a sweat doing this one. To kick it up a notch, I picked up some weighted gloves from amazon. . That’s an extra 2 pounds for each hand. They actually make a difference!
These are the Valero GNAW 2-Pound Weighted Gloves
They fit by putting your first two fingers and thumb through loops in the glove and tightening them around the wrist with velcro. They’re stretchy so you can fit them as snugly as you like. They stay pretty much in place during the entire workout. I’ve used them during two Kenpo workouts so far and I’ve had to pull them up a bit to adjust them once per workout. They’re snug without cutting off your circulation.
The benefit I get out of these gloves is that now thing like High Blocks, Swords, and Hooks start to wear out my arms. The first time I used them I was sore in the shoulder and upper back the next day. The back part comes from stopping short on all the punches and having to stop the extra momentum. Hell, even the warm-up Warrior 2 pose is harder with the gloves on!
Toward the end of the work out, the High Block Knee Kick Burn Out was kicking my ass! I couldn’t keep my arms going at the pace of the video. I recommend these suckers to get that extra burn out of a normally tame workout.
Oh yeah, I also did Abs Core Plus since I just flat out forgot to the ab workout yesterday.
