Today was Chest and Back plus Ab Ripper X. I got started at a pretty decent hour (7pm), so I still had pretty good energy going in. I got plenty of sleep the night before and today was good diet-wise. So this should be a pretty strong workout.
This is also my second week entering my results in to an Excel spreadsheet (see below) and I’m pretty excited to see the lines going up! It really did help me push out an extra one or two that I probably wouldn’t have done otherwise. I had a couple of push-up sets to failure that left me flat on my face, but I got back up and did another one to push it past last week. THAT is what really needs to happen, and it feels great!
One change that I made this week that I’m going to continue going forward is replacing the close grip overhand pull-ups with Neutral Grip Pull-ups. Doing the close grip pull-ups just hurt me too much, and as I said before, I’m not going to do anything that’s going to cause damage this round. Neutral Grip Pull-Ups are easier to do as well. you get to use more of you biceps. It’s a compound move that can also help you build those biceps by working all of the other muscles around them that could be causing you to plateau in your arm gains.
I ran into an interesting complication during the Ab Ripper X workout that really hurt. You see, I went tanning yesterday and apparently the bed I used was much hotter than the one I have used in the past. So that 15 minutes left be burnt ALL over. Yikes! Rubbing by put around on the ground was quite painful. Not the kind of burn I’m looking for!

Here’s the graph. Going in the right direction! .. Except for Diamond Pushups for some reason.
