For quite a while now, I’ve replaced the Kenpo X video with the Kenpo Cardio Plus from the P90X+ series. It’s just has faster pace and I feel like I’m getting more out of it. Eventually, I purchsed some weighted gloves to make it harder. What I haven’t done until today is use those weighted gloves on the normal Kenpo X. It makes a big difference!
The most boring part of the Kenpo X dvd is the blocking series. I never felt like that helped me at all. I’m not taking a self defense course, I’m here to sweat! Add 2 pounds to each and now I’m sweating! Everything from the blocks to the hooks to the X jumps are harder with weights on your hands. You’re pulling back that much harder to keep from completely extending your arms. If my groin holds up well, I’ll get me a pair of ankle weights to make it even tougher.
As a results, the Kenpo X was harder than I anticipated! That’s good news! I still think replacing star blocks with punching yourself in the face is a better use of your time, though.
Horse stances were tough after he legs and back workout and know tomorrow is going to be twice as bad. I’m looking forward to a nice day of stretching!
