Today was a funny day for my right shoulder. Woke up with an odd pain when I would raise it out in front of me. I took some ibuprofen during the day and it didn’t seem to help. As always, I’m concerned about injuring that shoulder again. I may be just a bit overly sensitive to it, in fact.
The first exercise in today’s workout was Alternating Shoulder Presses. I started with the normal amount of weight and quickly put that down. There wasn’t exactly a sharp pain, nor did it feel like something was pulled. It was just … weird. So I dropped the weight down to half and did the rest of the exercise. I continued most of the rest of the workout that way.
For biceps and triceps, there was no problem. I went up in my weight and reps nearly across the board. But as for the shoulders, I took it easy. I did every exercise and at the end I actually went up in weight. But for every other shoulder exercise, I went light weight – high reps.
If there’s one thing I want to stress to you today is that it’s just NOT WORTH IT to push through pain. I’m not talking about a muscle awesome burn pain, but and “ouch what the fuck was that” pain. Stop. Lighten you weight. Skip that exercise. Just don’t hurt yourself. You’ll end up losing all of that motivation sitting on your couch with an ice pack.
Oh, and, more abs today. Getting there.
